Follow in the path of Eagle Express Worldwide Couriers: Support Sightsavers International and give the greatest gift of all
For someone who is blind, the gift of sight is the greatest gift of all. Sightsavers believes that sight is a basic human right, and that everyone - including those in the world's poorest countries - should have access to the treatment and eye care that they need. For over 50 years Sightsavers has been restoring sight and improving the lives of people who are irreversibly blind in developing countries around the world. Eagle Express Worldwide Couriers have been supporting Sightsavers since 2000 through a regular monthly donation. Sightsavers' work would not be possible without our supporters, so regular donors like Eagles Express are very important to us, as they help us to provide services that help people just like four year old Kamesh from India. Kamesh, pictured above with his father, who lives in Chennai in India, was born blind from cataract in both his eyes. Although cataract's can be removed with a simple 20 minute operation, Kamesh's parents earn just 130 rupees (about £1.50) a day between them, so private healthcare is unaffordable. Kamesh received the cataract surgery he needed at a Sightsavers-supported project. Kamesh can now see clearly without any visual aids. His parents say, "He is now very playful and active, and runs around all the time." Kamesh likes nothing more than to play cricket with his brother and friends, something he couldn't do before. Sightsavers' work is important because, as well as providing treatment that can help to restore sight, we also assist with the rehabilitation of those who are irreversibly blind - thereby helping them to make a better future for themselves.
